From what I've been told I can replace the alarm box underneath passenger side as long as I have the key fob that goes with it, other wise I'll have to get my key fob programmed to it, I have also been told, I can bypass the dds pump to the middle of the three wires (no2 on connector block) as long as it's to the live wire (at the starter relay) that's live when ignition turned over all the way to crank position and this SHOULD work without smashing the black box of dds pump, how ever at the moment I'm trying to locate the alarm box (green one on my disco) with a working fob, I'm awaiting on a couple of calls at the moment

That's about right with the security ecu, the yellow wire at the fuse board is still live when the switch is at the third 'crank' position, also the red/white wire in the same connector on the fuse board as the yellow wire is live only when cranking.

Hey Gav, is it an auto or manual tranny, if auto it could be the inhibit switch on the gear shift, you know stops it starting if not in N or P.
And what @discool said to do in post#4 is a good way to rule out a lot of stuff from the equation.

All this drama makes me glad I went for the bargain basement Disco S manual without abs, srs, security stuff, and all the electrikery crap that on a 20 year old car can be a tragedy, and me being a "luddite" where such electrickery is concerned, still have problems mind, but always manage to get the engine started. So I'm hoping for the best for ya.

But didn't you just love the "wet ignition" on your Mini every time it rained, nothing can beat the stuttering of that BMC "A"series engine on a wet day.
But deffo no complicated bits under the bonnet.
Tbh I was extremely lucky and only had odd day problem with that which was a blessing, parking it was a lot easier too lol
