disco 200tdi will not start

the engine is trying to turn over but its just not happening ? it was running well today, towed an sj from manchester on a trailer
the only thing iv noticed is iv got to turn the key slowly when starting or all you here is the starter motor, but its been like that for 6 month, and been a 1st time starter even throw the frost. but over the last 2 week evey now and then it took a few turns before it starts, still always a 1st time starter in the morning.

is it poss ignition barrel is fooked or is it some thin else ???

is there power to the fuel stop solenoid?

If not then ignition switch would be my guess. If there is power to the solenoid I would suspect the solenoid is jammed with swarf and that it is a possible sign of a failing injection pump.

right i think its that plastic switch at the back of the ignition barrel, if i let starter motor fire and turn key back to just before the off point, it starts again
