Hi all..
My 200tdi is due for a cambelt change…

I've read somewhere that a Bearmach kit is the best to get, but first I can't find the post here and second I can't find a Bearmach kit for sale on the internet….

tried paddocks, famours four and a few others…

where can I get this kit from?

Also from what I've seen most kits come with belt, tensioner and idler….
but I think there's also some bits that need changing?
Remember my mechanic saying something about a pulley that should be cast?

Does anyone know what best kit to get?
and what bits to get?

cheers
JP

Also… recently (doesn’t happen everytime) when I start the landy and drive off there's this horrible squeeking noise….specially when turning the steering and the battery light comes on slightly..
this squeeking stops shortly, but its annoying…. could this be off some belt that I should also replace while doing the cambelt change?

cheers!

Use a genuine cam-belt and tensioner from LRSeries. Not worth skimping on sommat like that.
Replace yer fan and pas belts while yer at it.

MHM… you probably dead right there, I do go wadding quite a lot…. would taking the alternator off and cleaning inside help? or is it a case of replacing?

Treworgy - ok, thought it would be worth buying the Bearmach…so I suppose a Dayco (seen loads on tinternet) will be alright.

In terms of parts, what should I replace?

the belt, the tensioner and idler are the most common kits I've found…..but I remember the mechanic saying something about a pulley?

I've heard there was a problem on early 300's which meant it was a good idea to change the pulley when doing the cam belt. Never heard of it on 200's though.

yeh, my mate with a 300 (which the cambelt snapped last month) when the mechanic opened it, the recall on the pulley had never been done.

The pulley has a metal lip that slowly worns the belt...

cool, in that case I'll replace belt, tensioner and idler

cheers!

Hi everyone, just a quick one on the above...

where does everyone get their timing kits from?

It's just that I've heard such bad things about Britpart quality and don't want to run the risk of ordering the kit and finding out it's Britpart...

cheers!

Re: Disco 200tdi Cambelt kit - Bearmach...where???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

any other place besides LRSeries?

I cant seem to find a kit for the 200, only for the 300...?

I just done one on my 300 tdi while the engine was out, bought the cam belt from Landrover main dealer in Yeovil, They were only about £10-15 more expensive then all the local motor factors, and on something as important as a cambelt I dont believe they are worth skimping out on, so well worth the extra few pennies!!
