hi all i have a 1993 discovery 200 tdi, lately the engine has started to run on after i turn the ignition off,its done this for the last week or so and i have to stall the car to turn it off,it does not affect the drive of the car drives normal but just this problem when switching the ignition off is it an easy fix ? what part will i be looking for etc your help is much appreciated

thanks for the reply is the fuel stop solonoid easy to get at ? and will most landrover dealer stock it thanks

I had this probl;em and it was the stalk switch cluster. could turn engine off and walk away. and it would still run. had to change the switches. try removing steering cowl and unplug the switched and see if that cures it.

thanks for your replies sorry about the delay in responding came down with the flu so had no time to check it out the new stop solonoid will be here tomorrow, landrover here did not have one in stock so i ordered one will be fiting it asap also the stalk on the steering colume can this afect the run on of the engine when switched off ?will keep you updated when i fit the part, anyone got a blown up diagramme of the 200 tdi pump, many thanks

hi all to clear this up it was the stop solinoid that was the problem, its now sorted toatal time to change 20 mins ,thanks all that helped me out with the problem :)

Nice one nev;) How did ye take it out?
sorry for the late reply easy to take out on my disco,i used a thin pair of grips to loosen it tilted it sideways once unthreaded and extracted it without moving any pipe work etc, the only thing i done wrong was used a britpart stop solinoid which was crap had to buy a genuine landrover on which is perfect now, i noticed on the brit part solinoid that the thread part was alot deeper than the genuine one and was a waste of money thats why i ended up buying a genuine part off LR :)
