HI
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find out if the ecu on a td5 has been remapped?

I have recently got hold of an 02 plate td5 and it seems to go quite well... compared to my memory of the '99 td5 I had until just over a year ago...but this maybe because I've been running around in a 200tdi 110!

I've read a bit on the chip/not to chip postings and have not made a decision but would not want to waste my time/money rempping a rempped chipset.

if it helps...

my manual TD5 did 0-60 in just under 20 seconds before the chip, an about 14 seconds wiv a remapped one.

also goes up all motorway hills in 5th gear under all loads

No uprated intercooler as yet so stage 1 tuned.

check if the EGR has been blanked?
no muppet on the planet would chip the car and leave that crap behind.... would they???

Mines an Auto and has had a J Fearn ECU remap. Once its in 4th (or torque conv locked in), I can put my foot down and it wont change gear, just pulls until it wont go any faster! before it would be constantly changing between 3rd and 4th

I have always thought my disco is quite spritely, it is not unusual for it to spin wheels when pulling out of junctions, Yestserday i decided to see how long it takes to do 0-60, unfortunately the bit of road i tried it on was slightly uphill all the way and i managed it in 16 seconds. Looking at what has been posted on here that would seem to be pretty good, mine is a 52 plate auto (test done without sport mode enabled).does anyone know what 0-60 for an auto should be???

think the standard 0-60 time is about 15-16 sec. its not about these times as its not a sports car! its about how it goes once moving! my 50-70mph time has been cut in half since being 'remaped'

Hi
I bought a 99 disco 2 td5 last may, after righting off a fronterra 2.5 td lwb, I was very disapointed in comparison.
Within a month I had it chipped. Aahhha much better, I can go around an average roundabout in fourth gear and pull away without labouring floor it up to 60mph and it roars like a lion, you can really feel the torque of the 5 cylinder engine, left a 2.5td Range Rover on the motorway chokeing on my exaust smoke, it does smoke a bit more since but worth it. Passed mot emmisions test "fine by me".
I've never taken it to the max 95 mph is fast enough, I dont know about stability issues and if it will cope, but it could go faster.
The car does feel lighter, if it had'nt been chipped you would know, mine was like the engine was too small for the vehicle, very sluggish. I was lucky a chap near me (swansea) does it, cost £300.
