Disco 2 front end onto a D1?

Anybody know if a D2 front end - innerwings, front panel, slam panel etc will go onto a D1? About to start welding one up for a friend but seen quite a few complete D2 front clips on ebay which would make life easier- if they fit.. Will the D1 outer wings fit back on ok and are the body mounts in the same place etc or am i going down a dead end here..?

I did that- thanks anyway though! Really it needs both front wings doing- and the front body mounts so would be a dear-do! Seen the d2 front ends for anything between 99p and £200. If they don't fit I,ll make some-was just trying to save some fab-time/ ****ing about!

Did you get anywhere with this, I need a slam panel for a 300tdi 98 and it seems the headlamp unit from a pre-face lift TD5 is the same, but I'm not sure about the slam panel.
