Disco 2 Facelift VIN Number

Hi Guys, I've got a strange 1 for you...

I've been checking my Disco 2 VIN number on Rave to se when it was made against when it was registered,to see how long it stood around before it was sold.
Here's the strange bit, My VIN number states the car as being a 2003....Now don't say it is a RINGER as i have just done an HPI check on it and it comes back as 2002 registered August 2002. So how come the VIN states it as being a 2003???????

Hi Dave, does the vin start with 2A or 3A ?

Perhaps it's 2003 Model Year

Hi BigLad, VIN starts 3A.....

Ive done some more investigating this morning. Contacted the Dealership that original sold my car when it was new.Sales Manager was at the dealership when my car was sold,he has been there over 10 years. Explained to me that when the original ordered my car,Java Black with Alpaca leather was in short supply and they had to supply him a 2003 model as there were no current 2002 models available.So that has put my mind at rest.
