Hey guys. I'm looking at getting back into landy ownership and some greenlaning trips. I'd love a nice defender but budget at the moment dictates a disco. My garage is down a narrow lane and is the only parking I have...does anyone have the correct dimensions for the Disco 2 please, mainly width from wing mirror to wing mirror. Defender fits down there without pulling mirrors in so I'm hoping disco 2 will fit somehow. Have tried several websites, google, etc. All, of them give different dimensions!!

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hi, it's in the WSM download this for any info you need (unfortunately the width is without mirrors so add 320 mm to it... both sides) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/47hbz40an5he5j2/AABYJTmOSmlWjXq5_Mczvua6a/Workshop manual.pdf?dl=0

Yeah but as you say, that is excluding mirrors and even folded flat they take up a lot of space. When open, driver's side, 12" tip to door glass, passenge'rs 11" tip to door glass, obviously different cos folded in to first click on passenger side, 23" or 584mm. Your 320 mm must be folded in position. Mind you he needs to open the door to get out, and how wide that needs to be will depends on his pie consumption!:):)

Brilliant cheers guys. My Transporter t4 camper fits down with drivers wing mirror pulled in. That measures 1840mm body width, 2175mm with wing mirrors out. Online figures I got for disco 2 were 1890mm for body, 2190mm with mirrors, so not a million miles off. It's going to be tight!! I believe a disco 1 is a bit narrower? Can anyone confirm this please? Thinking about selling the camper and getting a defender but the missus wouldn't be happy :D

I realised and edited the message while you wrote, 320 both sides so overall width roughly 2440mm all in with mirrors unfolded

Also, it's just the first part of the lane down to my garage that's tight, also means I've got to reverse down as the turn is too tight! Garage is double width so not a problem getting out once I'm through the narrow's... only way to tell for certain I guess is to find someone local with a disco 2!

Just noticed you live in Cornwall! Expalins a lot! Some of those tiny fishing villages are as tight as a crab's rse. Once sold a car to a woman who had to keep it on the top of the village!
Have just measured with mirrors both folded in, you gain 224mm. But if you have to turn a wheel in the narrow gap that will add to your width.
Think you really should get a guy or a gal with a D2 to go and try it. Especially as backing it in with no mirrors will make it even more difficult.
My measurements seem to make it narrower than anyone else says. I'll just recheck across the interior.
Right from each folded in mirror max width to door glass = 170mm
across the interior window to window 1590mm at mirror height.
door glass = 10mm for 2
so 170 +170+ 1590 + 10= 1940 mm overall with mirrors folded. Maybe I have missed something.

cheers Stanleysteamer… busy week so only just got back on here! Yes, the dimensions are difficult to work out as the body obviously sticks out more than the glass so just need to add part of the mirror length!! I reverse my t4 down by pulling in the drivers mirror and sticking head out the window, keeping an eye on distance from the wall with the passenger mirror. Now I'm used to it it's a doddle, lol. The nearest dimensions I got online were 2190mm mirror to mirror, so folding ONE in would hopefully give me maybe 150mm off that at best, so 2040mm with just drivers mirror folded? Not far from what you've worked out with both folded. My t4 is 1840 on body, 2175 with mirrors, so folding the drivers mirror would be a smidge over 2000 I think. I'll get the tape measure out again, lol, but will try and find someone with a d2 locally and go from there. cheers for your help.
