My Disco 2 Cruise worked fine at the weekend. Then I set off today for a 120 mile round trip and set the cruise for 60mph on the motorway. It worked fine until I flipped it off when I was approaching a lorry. It would not turn on again until I stopped the engine and re-started. On the way home it then worked fine but althought I still have the orange light showing on the cruise button to the right of the dash I have lost the lights next to the speedo that show the cruise is in operation.

Is there a bulb in the dash to light the cruise warning words in the dash? Any other reason for my losing the warning lights?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Didn't know there was alight in the dash showing cruise is on ?

looks like i have abulb gone then unless it wasnt fitted to 2001 TD5's?

I dont have a cruise light either, mines a 1999 TD5...
what model/year do you have??

the dash lights are easy to change, just remove the binnacle instrument pack and twist new ones in from behind.

A veeeeeeeeeery big apology. Must have been having a senior moment dash light was a mix up between my Disco 2 (200 GS auto) and a Mazda that my wife drives! So I have no light issue. That said the cruise works fine first time out but if I need to overtake then re-set cruise it will not engage regularly/reliably unless I switch the ignition off and then back on. Is that an intermitent ECU/cruise fault?

Sorry to drive you nuts about those lights!

I fitted a cruise switch to my series 2 manual TD5 after reading about it on here. Mutts nuts. Only problem is if I disengage the cruise using the brake pedal I experience the same as you - won't work until you stop, turn off and back on again. If I use the res button it's fine. I just put it down to another wierd nuance of Discos !!
