Hi guys, I've just got myself a 2002 discovery td5 xs and I'm looking for some good recommendations for AT tires and can any one give me a definitive answer for what (if any) wrap around bull bars I can legally fit to her? She is predominantly used on the road but I do want to go off and play when I get the chance.

Yes you can legally fit a wrap around metal bull bar or A bar to it as it's pre '06 I think the rule came in, vehicles registered/made after a certain date can't "legally" have one fitted. However, A shop can't 'legally' sell one to you though either.... It's complicated!
Make sure you tell your insurance you fitted one too ;)

General grabbers are pretty good AT tyres.

HTH.

+1 on the Grabber ATs

I seem to recall the manufacture and sale on metal non EU compliant bull bars was banned in 2007. If you already had one fitted you could still have it now and I think you could fit one still if you can get hold of one however apart from looks is there really an advantage? I know many insurance companies wont cover them, the rest will probably fleece you and if you don't tell them then you risk no cover at all...and then its 6 points and confiscated vehicle or you have a bump and they wont pay out. Not to mention there is a good reason they were banned in the first place.

Yep, you can mount some spot lamps to them, also offer a bit of front protection if someone decides to reverse into the front of your motor whilst reversing out if a parking space etc.

Are you telling me there is going to be a huge difference in damage caused to a padestrian if one decides to walk out infront of a 2 1/2 Tonne discovery whether is has a bull bar fitted or not....

only difference is without one all the body parts go under the landy, with one you may collect an arm or leg ect within your bull bar,

Other than that nope, they still dead...
