Hi just new too the forum , I have a disco 2, 300tdi and ive been having problems with the abs kicking in when I slow to a stop I have to jump on the break with 2 feet to get the bloody thing to a halt and im not even going that fast could someone give me some info on how to repair please ?
 
If it is a 300TDI its a D1,in which case its probably just the ecu seeing a low output from one of the wheel speed sensors.Gently tapping them in till they stop resets them.If its the rears that move then you have a slack wheel bearing,if its the fronts that move then you have a more difficult issue.This is either worn/slack swivel bearings or CV joint support bearings failing - or often a combo of all three.
BTW, dont worry about the the rap for not "introducing " yourself - not all of us get arsey about it,some of us can manage without you telling us all about yourself.
Good luck with fixing your ABS.

Do you have the '3 amigos' warning lights on the dash? ABS, HDC & TC.
Could be a sensor fault or other, more complicated problem.
I only know about the sensor problem, I managed to reset it by using a nanocom & it went away.
 
Same deal really for the DII,except any of the corners will most likely need a new hub.(Depending on fault code) It will need a diagnostic check to see what is going on,very strong chance it will be a low output from a hub,often faffing around reseating them is only a temporary fix.In the past I have scoped them and found an identical waveform on a "faulty" hub to the other side which doesnt complain.But a new hub has cured it.The software in the ecu does seem quite fussy.....

I only get this problem when I break hard and all the lights come on but when I turn the engine off and they all go out when I restart ?

if you had looked harder (eightinavee) you would of seen it was a TD5,
also he knows he has a TD5 himself now!!!
if he had asked the right question to the car it would of been easier to answer would it not?

Not really,there are still plenty of people who think that 300 Disco's are a series 2,as opposed to a 200TDI being a series 1.Stating a 300TDI engine is a fairly clear statement of engine type which is why I gave the original answer - plus the fact that the symptoms the OP describe are very typical of a D1 with an unseated sensor.DII drivers usually go on about the 3 lamps long before they even mention any actual symptoms.So there was some thought behind my answer,and as I siad the actual cause is probably the same,but fixing it will be slightly different.
