Hi folks, got a problem with the td5 disco. Quite often, maybe 50% of the time, the disco goes into limp home mode (auto gearbox) when i start up or shortly afterwards. By this i mean 2 green lights flash at the bottom of dashboard and the box locks in 3rd gear. The only way i seem to get it out of this is to switch off, wait a couple of seconds and start up again. Usually then it's fine to drive (although occaisionally it will do it again). It's a real pain in the backside. I have had the local garage hook it up to a computer but no faults were found. Can anyone help me out please ? Steve.

Hi 4wd, there is a known issue relating to the switch on the base of the gear selector lever, often referred to as the "XYZ" switch. If this switch is mal-adjusted or faulty it sends bad signals to the 'box ECU which then triggers the flashing lights.
Do a search on "XYZ switch" should be loads of stuff.
