Disco 1 V8 v Disco 1 V8i

Hi guys,

Spring starts again and that is MY time to work on the Disco.

I need some parts like a door latch, off road tyres, bumper.

Now, I got a late '91 V8i. Looking at a '90 V8 that is for sale. Thinking to use 1 for parts.

Are the parts (besides engine) the same ? Can I use them? Would think so.

Appreciate any comments, thanks.

200 series so yes, the change point was in 1994 with the 95MY 300 series.

If that's the only difference, why did LR bother with the injection ?

But more seriously, how is that V8 on mileage, hp or torque, maintenance, reliability etc.

My V8i does 1:8 (ltr:km) = 23 mpg, either empty or puling full load and has been very reliable over the 16 years I had it. It runs the best doing 70 miles at 2800 rpm. I have 124000 miles on the clock now.

youd only get that on the back of a recovery truck

I dunno, I got my auto on a recovery truck last weekend... ... although it will be a manual soon

or was the emphasis on "you'd" not suggesting I have a heavy right foot, surely?

or am I misunderstanding slightly?

offers 2 engine choices , different petrol grades need different crs, different characteristics ie better lower end on l/c, disco came slightly lower spec on running gear

rrc , basically the same chassis running gear ,but usually rr has vented brakes disco solid etc

My 3.5 rrc had solid discs so what year was vented introduced?

Not in a UK disco 1989-2004 all V8s are 9.35:1

Your not a disco owner then

Forgot the UK carb engine 1989-90 that had a 8.13:1 compression ratio

Yes, discos for some markets had them as standard , vented are listed and shown along the solid discs in the parts book.
