I can’t see many Disco 1s reaching 40 years even though there were more than 350,000 made for the uk market alone 1989 - 1998.
Some will survive if hardy used no doubt, like a car I own with only 43,500 miles use in my 47 years of ownership.

I think the D1 is a complete classic - IMHO it is probably the pinnacle of vehicle engineering - simple enough to maintain without complex diagnostics, and what electronics are on it are either repairable, or replaceable, or ignorable without compromising basic vehicle functions - something which can not be said of the later vehicles..
Of the four here, the two '97's will definitely make to the 40 years, always assuming I'm still alive - the third, a 1990 V8i is likely a long term resto, but should survive.. the fourth, a '95, is probably too far gone ... but never say never - it was only really bought as a donor anyway..

That's so long as they don't stop the 40 years exemption.
I've got just over 10 years to go on my 94 D1

They won't. Rolling VED exemption is now on the statute book. There are a lot of Labour Peers with vintage cars too.
