I can’t see many Disco 1s reaching 40 years even though there were more than 350,000 made for the uk market alone 1989 - 1998.
Some will survive if hardy used no doubt, like a car I own with only 43,500 miles use in my 47 years of ownership.:)

I think a few will. I still see them around occasionally, with only 6 years to go for the earliest to reach Historic Status.

I think the D1 is a complete classic - IMHO it is probably the pinnacle of vehicle engineering - simple enough to maintain without complex diagnostics, and what electronics are on it are either repairable, or replaceable, or ignorable without compromising basic vehicle functions - something which can not be said of the later vehicles..

Of the four here, the two '97's will definitely make to the 40 years, always assuming I'm still alive - the third, a 1990 V8i is likely a long term resto, but should survive.. the fourth, a '95, is probably too far gone ... but never say never - it was only really bought as a donor anyway..

That's so long as they don't stop the 40 years exemption.
I've got just over 10 years to go on my 94 D1
