Hi All,

I am looking to do a body swap as our Discovery has quite a bit of tin worm.

The donor has less rust!

Just had a thought though.

The donor is an auto with an air flow meter etc (would this be EDC?), whilst our one is a manual 5 speed with no electronics. Would i need to strip out all the under dash wiring out of the old one to fit the 'new' one to get the engine to run?

I am trying to save myself a ton of welding but may cause even more problems....

Anyone done this? Or maybe did an engine/gearbox swap from an auto EDC to manual?

I would have thought an auto to manual conversion would be easier, lifting bodies could give some surprises and possibilities of twisting of hidden rot o_O (or missed body mounts  )

I have never played with the edc wiring but it's probably just a few plugs to swap under the dash to change the engine loom although you only need +12v to the injection-pump solenoid to run the 'mechanical' pump on the manual so could probably leave the edc harness intact & remove the ecu / replace the 'fly-by-wire' throttle with a cable....

Although the auto engine has more power so maybe just swap auto to maual boxes:cool:

Sorry, I've been waffling

Rich.
