When the time comes for a service or any other work needing done I'm in a dilemma which garage to use. There is a garage local to me that works on all makes/models where I know the owner will not try ripping me off with parts they haven't installed/fitted or go to a recognised LR garage called Harris Mayes country cars in Rickmansworth which has had a mention on here. The thing is will my local garage know what to look for when servicing on fault finding on a FL1 and maybe cost me money labour wise or will the LR garage go straight to the problem or know what to look for when a service is due? What would you do?

The reports on here seem to suggest LR franchises, and LR indies, are as bigger gamble as non-LR garages!

With F1 out of production now for 10 years, even though LR have given it "special" classic status, I doubt there are many mechanics left at LR garages that have had any training specifically on F1. I'd be inclined to use the mechanics you trust and use LZ for fault finding and advice!

Having said that - if there's good reports about Harris Mayes, then presumably that counts for something.

Personally I gave up on LR franchises, LR indies AND trusted mechanics after all 3 cost me $1,000s fixing things that weren't broke to solve problems. Do most things myself now - unless I just haven't got the time.

the only garage I trust is me and my son in law the wife got ripped of paying for a 3 year servicing because she knew my back was bad they said they had done a full service but they had only changed the oil and not even the crank case filter.

Best get round my house when the next service is due then :)
