Hi all,
Couldn't find this when I searched,
How do you go about doing a diff swap? I've got the front and back axles from a disco 1 and think I may as well put the diffs into my 88 but just wondering how I might go about it. If there are any pics as well that would be great.
Cheers

on rear of series axle case, later ones have a filler bung ,earlier one have filler in diff housing , only early rrc diffs had filler in diff housing the same ,(hence the rrc early diff been choice),any 10 spline can be used disco been the most numerous so easy to find ,but as these dont have filler in housing will require you to fit one in rear diff pan if you havent got one already ,fronts allways did ,rear is esy just pull drive members with half shafts out a few inches then unbolt diff ,silicone is fine to reseal members plus diff ,fronts you can either strip back to swivel housing and pull shafts out or just undo 6x per side case to chrome ball bolts /nuts and pull out a few inches ,support well so brake flexi isnt strained ,silicone is needed definately as you cant get shaft out enough to fit gasket
