Diff lock

Hi I was doing some towing in some very slippery mud today engaged diff lock and seems nothing happened the back wheel were going quite fast and the front barely turning is this normal when I jack both fronts wheels up and turn one wheel with diff lock turned on the other turns backwards which I think is correct and proves it's working diff lock off and only one wheel turns others stay still

diff lock only locks both axles together so a wheel spinning at rear and front would cause no forward motion , if you jack both wheels up on an axle and spin one wheel the other will turn in the opposite direction , it just proves you axle diff functions

When my diff lock is not engaged should the passenger side still spin when I turn the drivers side then? Sorry not very clued up on diff lock I'm still learning

If you are talking about the centre diff-lock that comes standard - then it locks the front and rear axles together; which means that if you lift one front, and one rear wheel off the ground\loose traction in some way, more power will go to those wheels... and the others will slow/stop after loosing momentum.

If you've got additional diff-locks on the axles, then when you turn one wheel the other should turn in the same direction as well - if not, with the front jacked up and standard centre diff-lock on, one will go one way, and the other will spin the opposite way.

I still have to picture it all in my head and work it out to explain it how it works - its hard though!

I'll explain the situation my passengers side front and rear wheels werein some proper sloppy muddy stuff drivers side was on good rock stone it wouldn't move from
Where it was I was under impression with standard centre diff lock it had to be cross axle before you would slip but hey I live and learn

cross axle is bull**** you only need 2 wheels to spin 1 front 1 rear, they can be on the same side thats with center diff lock engaged without center diff lock any one wheel spinnig wil lose forward motion

That explains why I couldn't move thanks for clearing that up I'll be sure not to do that again

You can just get yourself out of the **** easier
