Diff lock stick

Hi all

My diff lock gear stick does not appears to have a mind of its own.. I can select diff lock high and low as well as high and low with out diff lock. the problem is that you can put it in to any position and the stick floats from sided to side even though you have selected the gear to the point you can turn the duff lock light off.
It looks like the gear gate has vanished??

If you get under the LR or take the floor panels and gearbox tunnel off you will see how the diff lock shifter works, it doesn't drop down into the transfer box, it just goes down to a ball joint on top of the gearbox and there are rods and things connected to it that in turn move the diff lock and high/low range selector.

If if wobbles about then its most likely there is a loose/worn coupling that will become apparent when you look at it.

have a look in here it does sound like there's something come adrift somewhere
