Anyone know of one that fits in and doesnt cost a fortune.
A Cummings will be very tight for a disco so no good.

So after a diesel v8 that can fit in a disco or maybe a regular diesel that could cope with a twin turbo set up?

It's all an idea for the future

Not sure I would go for a diesel V8 as there are some uber cool straight 6s and even 4 bangers to go at if you like bit of displacemet but if a V configuration floats the boat Merc do an amazing V6 diesel.

Is 8 cylinders a must or are you just looking for a new project?

Just a bigger engine really that has the power & torque. I was thinking a 4.0 v8 out of a p38 then put an lpg kit on but like diesel as bio is cheap.

New project was thinking the BMW engine but too many ecus and bull****.
Unsure on what can be a good fit and an improvement

This is my disco, was standard when bought then built it, not many "bought parts" mostly built

The old GMC 6.2 n/a and sidewinder 6.5 turbo engines are massively heavy old lumps and have an appetite for gearboxes and half shafts when driven "spiritedly"

N/A 6.2 is gutless.

usually they are paired to the GM turbo 400 in GM trucks and are generally reliable, especially with 1 ton axles.

Isuzu 4BD1T then, 3.9ltr 4 banger that the Australian army thought reliable enough for the Parentie 6X6 Land Rover.

Probably the easiest and most readily available conversion would be the Merc OM606 3ltr straight 6, you can buy a complete donor vehicle for very little and have everything you needed for the conversion.
