Diesel pre heater??? Do I have one?

A what? Where would it be / what does it look like / and wtf does it do??

Whenever I turn the engine off, I always get a kind of whirring noise after the engine's off....had it since the day I bought so haven't thought too much about it.

Any ideas?

Nah - couldn't find it....

some models have an additional ceramic heater to provide extra heat to the cabin before the engine warms up properly.

best way I can think of to check, if you can't tell is to turn temperature control to cold, fan on 1,2 or 3, turn engine on, then lights. then watch dashboard illumination as you turn heater control to maximum. as you go just past half way, you should hear a very quiet "click" from the switch as the microswitch closes, and as this happens, the dashboard lights should dim slightly for a brief moment. better done at night as it goes.

If you have PTC heater you will have a relay bottom left of passenger compartment fuse box.

Behind the bumper about in line with the right side of the rad, on a bracket fastened to the ally strength member. Pulled my bumper and found the sensor was away..........literally, just a plug, no sensor. Put in a new sensor and works fine now
