Hi All. Firstly I would like to applogise as I know this question has been aske many times. I have a non starting p38. There is fuel all the way up to the FIP but goes no further. My real question here is: Does the EKA code not resync the becm to ems or do I need to have this resynced.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

No EKA code has nothing to do with security code in ECM. When you switch ignition on, BECM reads a code embedded in ECM. If the code the BECM has stored does not match the embedded code engine will not start. BECM code gets scrambled and needs to be re installed. If it's out of sync you need diagnostics to reset it. Where are you someone near may have a diesel Syncmate?

Thanks for the quick post Wammers.

I live in the Forest Of Dean (Gloucestershire) if any one has a syncmate or similar.

Or your stop Solinoid has gone kaput , if you turn on ignition and the engine light Illuminates and goes out becm and ECM have talked if it stays on you need to re- synch

also if out of sync the dash will ask you for the code. If the engine is turning over but not starting defender300 is right and the problem is in the fip probably the solenoid

Op there is two types of out of sync ecu or key fob if fob it wouldn't turn over and would ask for your eka or the other it would turn over but engine ecu would not be in sync with becm but your engine light would not of illuminated and gone out

You'll get a message if the key fob is out of sync...not if the BeCM and EMS is out of sync IIRC

Correct "Engine disabled" message has nothing to do with EMS code. If BECM EMS are out of sync engine will turn but not start. If "Engine disabled" message is showing engine will not crank.

not sure if the engine light illuminates. Will try this tomorrow when the battery has had a good charge. Thanks guys for all your responses. No other warning lights/ messages on the dash.

Engine lamp should illuminate then extinguish for the bulb check...

If it doesn't come on at all or it stays on during cranking, this could indicate loss of BeCM to Engine ECU sync...

+1 but if it does then go out have a listen for solinoid activating

As Saint.V8 say's, no message if the BECM and EDC are out of sync, it will crank but not fire I believe on the diesel. FOB sync error will give engine disabled on the dash and it will not crank.

I am not sure that applies to the diesel. It may to the Gems and Thor but when mine was out of sync i do not remember having a constant mil lamp.

If it doesn't stay on It should a least light up briefly then go out or if it doesn't light at all then its out of synch one of the two .

That is for the bulb check ECU does not do that. As i said when mine was out of sync as far as i can recall everything appeared normal just would not start. Can't recall mil lamp staying on. Maybe it did can't remember.
