Around town I get about 21mpg from mine ~ which isn't much better than the V8 I used to have

Really?! My V8 used to get 15 around town if I was very lucky! Usually closer to about 12, but that was London traffic. Don't know about the Tdi as I don't do town driving now, but my V8 certainly never did 30! which is about what I'm getting from the Tdi on average.

I used to get 15/16 around town and 17/18 at motorway speeds from the V8 without much noticeable difference between petrol and LPG. To my mind there's not much difference between 16 and 21 compared with my Xantia which does 40 around town and 50+ on the motorway. I do drive "spiritedly" but within the speed limit though

I get 26mpg on BFG muds in my 300TDI Auto around town and its certainly not sluggish?
It was the town traffic being sluggish I meant!
I know that none of us LandyZoners could be called "Sluggish" apart from HybridGirl who seems to like her bed ...... but she might not be sluggish in there.
