Hi all....it's been a while I haven't posted here but I have a bit of a problem.....two days ago I've been having an intermittent problem with my 300tdi discovery 1...automatic. While driving the engine feels as though it is going to cut out similar to what an empty diesel tank would give....the Rev counter then dips to suit and then it pulls off and goes as normal....it has happened to me twice any advice would be appreciated as it is becoming more consistent. Thanks in advance.

check lift pump ,sender unit under boot floor access panel ,sedimenter and filter, fuel starvation and air entering fuel system are common issues

Lift pump is good to my knowledge....I am however planning to take down the sedimenter and clean tomorrow as well as change the filter. This all started happening after a 45 degree......6km climb up a hill....will keep you posted on my progress

check sender unit as well , the steel outlets rot and allow air in as system is under suction till after lift pump, you might find screens for pick up partially blocked too

this is what i found when i removed the sedimenter to clean.......all goes well i hope cleaning the sedimenter solved the problem...tomorrow i will change the fuel filter as i was a bit busy today.will keep you updated

Heh, 'the blob' .. we've all had that at some time or other .. ;)

good day all.....i changed the fuel filter in the engine bay today but somehow the problem has gotten slightly worse. i've included two videos....mind you the idle was not dropped by me.thanks in advance.

Not necessarily. A crack is a crack, it opens and shuts as it's stressed so might not give symptoms all the time, only when it's under pressure, for instance. Another place to check are the fuel line connectors on top of the fuel tank .. Under the round plate in the boot floor. If the nylon to brass is cracked and dis-coloured this gives very similar results.

Might be worth removing the air intake from the turbo and trying again. If you have any issues with delaminated air pipes or pipes collapsing under vacuum then it will be at high rpm and reduce the air available for the engine. Its probably not pipes as you would notice black smoke but at least you can strike that off the list of possibilities.

good day all.....i have removed the fuel sender, sedimenter and fuel filter and using compressed air blow out the lines....also i have drained the fuel tank to replace with clean diesel. the last few litres of diesel from the tank was extremely dirty also the sedimenter had quite a bit of particles. as for the connections all lool to be in a good condition with no gum or rot on them...this is due to living in the caribbean so we dont use salt on the roads.

hi all........i recently started having a 'buck' while idling.....on checking the wire that suplies the fuel solenoid on the injector pump i found a small break in the shielding....the problem has since been resolved.....will update further.
