Hi.
Just to re-introduce myself. i was an active member on this site a good few years back. I then had surgery and put my trusted P38 2.5 bmw into the back of my workshop and there it stayed for 5 years.
Well, ive just got the old girl back on the road.
In the last couple of weeks she has had new brake pipes, new disk and pads all round, compressor rebuild, EGR removal pipe, battery, oil service, new oil cooler pipe (and because they were seized and oil cooler too...) and four new boots too.
Then went through an MOT, and the drive to the MOT station a terrible rattle started from the front end.
At first it was though to be the tensioner pulley as could see slight vibration in the tensioner arm.
This was replaced and hasnt cured the problem.
While the belt was off i noticed the bottom crank pulley has some play and i can make it clunk with my hand,
I am looking at replacing this, how easy is it to replace? any special tools?
I have read an old thread on here but not actually sure what the guy replaced as it looks like he pressed out the internals of the original.
Does anyone know how to, or has replaced one before who knows whats involved??
Any help would be greatly appreciated, needing my car and running out of money so taking it to a garage is not really doable.
Thanks in advance guys
