No but there a good start and if you use them in conjunction with a 1:2500 map then you shouldn't be far off

On Trailwise, and the CC interactive map, BOATS, ORPAs and UCRS, will be clearly identified, as will Bridleways, Footpaths and Restricted Byways, which you cant use on a vehicle.
Same on OS, the symbols for the various ROW are in the key.
As Neilly says, some routes may be temporarily or voluntarily restricted at some times. Check with the Definitive Map, the Council, or GLASS rep if in doubt.

I usually use the 1:25000 OS. But, as above, be wary of temporary restrictions, especially at this time of year.

As Turboman says, the :1:25K is a good place to start, but do not rely on it to be 100%, a case in point there is a restricted byway on an OS map in Wiltshire, But in fact it is a BOAT. I confirmed this with the Wiltshire RoW officer. In this case it was a bonus.

Latest thinking seems to be that some RBs can be, and are, driven legally.
Trouble is, on the contentious ones, a court case will be the only way to establish the definitive truth, so don't experiment unless you are well funded, or knowledgeable about legal stuff.

If you are going to go electric and use a tablet, then Viewranger are now doing a yearly sub for the 1:50K and 1:25K OS maps, the VR app seems to work better than the OS app for routes if you are likely to be transferring them using .gpx files.

This was specifically noted as a BOAT on the def map and by the RoW officer, so OS has a mistake.

Didn't say it wasn't, and I am sure it is.
Was just saying that RB legislation has still not been fully tested in the courts, and some may care to take on the challenge.

OK, Nay worries, I get where you are coming from. If it shows a RB , then I would avoid it unless I have written form from the RoW officer stating it is a BOAT etc.etc.
Not worth the hassle TBH to argue the point myself and be caught somewhere illegal.

According to GLASS, it is good if people test the legislation, obviously avoiding contentious RBs, and those where people have had trouble before.
If laners win their cases, it establishes helpful precedents.
I wasn't suggesting that anyone in particular should do it. But I might, I enjoy legal stuff, and have represented myself in many matters for years.

Hi guys, we're staying in Sampford Courtenay camping (okehampton)from saturday ( 31st) untill friday and were wondering if anyone was going out laning over the week and didn't mind us tagging along?

As far as the people in this thread are concerned, you are about 5 years too late. Most of us have moved, are too busy for laneing, or no longer have 4wds.
In any case, most of our action took place in West Cornwall, so quite a long drive from you.
I can only suggest GLASS, OS, Trailwise, and find yourself some local mates to go out with.
North Devon has some very good lanes, some of which I have driven in the past.
By the way, you should really post in Introduce Yourself for the first post, but welcome to LZ anyway.

Join GLASS. The local rep will help you.
They possibly organise trips in your area, and have their own forum, where you can meet like minded people.

I have joined bud. Did it yesterday. Offered my services with maintenance and upkeep on the lanes. So will most likely hear from the rep at some stage. Fingers crossed anyway!!

You will probably have to call the rep, their number will be on the website, and in the mag.
There may be a Devon pub meet, which are worth going along to to meet people.
Best of luck with the maintenance days. They are worthwhile, and give you a chance to drive the lane being worked on.

I cam definatly put a call in. Just waiting for my membership to go live then I can get on the site and have a look round.
I will keep my ear to the ground for local pub meets etc. I'm sure there will be something around me. I'm keen for the maintenance days. I love to pitch in where I can.

Don't forget Trailwise. Members get an enhanced search radius, and there may be comments from people that have driven the lanes recently.
I used to use it a bit when I was laning, although I am more a paper OS map kind of guy.
