Tried the hill, landed on the rear door. Ended up at the RCH.
 
No we've kind of avoided it as its a bit of a fav with quads and scramblers , but there are a fair few lanes around that area , we've done a couple but kinda got stopped in our tracks by a fallen tree and no chainsaw/bow saw handy :) we've yet to get back over there to proceed further :rolleyes:

I have chain saw ,and bow saw if you wanna try again let me know i,ll pop down
 
ermm restricted Byways are for horses/cyclists/pedestrians. No motorised right of way at All. except for authorised access.
Until a few weeks ago that was my impression of the law as it stands after the NERC legislation. Then I got the latest edition of the GLASS mag. in which there is a long article about RBs. According to Dale Wyatt, one of the GLASS officers, some RBs can be legally driven, others are as you say, restricted to walkers, bikes etc. Apparently there is scope within the legislation for local authorities to vary the restrictions. Unfortunately some authorities have been very thorough and restricted everything they could:(

The article is a bit technical with legal stuff, if you know a glass member they will have the mag. If you are interested I could pm you a copy.

Like you say its very difficult to prove that an RB has and should retain its vehicular status. After NERC 2006 most councils re-classified all there RUPP's to RB's as it was assumed(rightly or wrongly, its still up in the air) that all RUPP's lost there vehicular rights.
 
I walked into Treliske, saw the desk nurse at the non-serious bit of the A&E unit, explained the accident and that I had neck pains and felt almost like I was drunk - didn't even bother with the triage nurse, they put me straight on a spinal board and strapped me down so I couldn't move - apparently they were worried I'd done something nasty to my upper spine or neck. 5 hours later they xray'd me and gave me the all clear.

Top tip: don't fall off hills, whether you're in a Land Rover or not.

Very True. Im currently trying to get 2 lanes opened up with warwickshire CC but the trouble is getting anyone to actually spend time with you over it.

One of the reasons Trailwise was invented was because it is needed to record the use of all PROW not just Byways and UCR's but footpaths and bridleways also. We need to record the use of these ROW so we dont lose them when the next NERC comes around.

The Devon TRF do a great job in contesting and getting old roads opened up for vehicular use, user evidence makes a hell of a difference in this process and is something the TRF are very good at collating.

I am really pleased to hear that you are on that, I would submit evidence if I had used them, but it is a long way from here.
I sometimes put user evidence on tw, some of the lanes there have been no entries for ten years.
Sounds like NERC2 could see the loss of heaps more byways, unless people get their act together.

I know some of the TRF boys, and I think you are right, they are more active on ROWs than 4x4 users.

Hi, Im new on the board and am enjoying looking through all the posts. Im in Plymouth and Ive just treated myself to a 110. Im looking to meet up and do some green laning as a group.
