Hmmm..

So upon selecting left indicator, it and both rear foglights flash. Right hand indicator operates as it should.

I seem to remember somewhere in the paperwork I got with the Disco that there'd been an issue with the left hand rear lights - I'll have to "unearth" :p the paperwork and have a shufty at a circuit diagram to see what earth point(s) might be affected.

Always summat eh? :(

The earth header is just through the little access hatch to the side as you open the tailgate.

Might be the earth in the light unit itself that has gone bad though. You could try soldering a new wire onto the earth track and tap into the earth header below where that access hatch is.

The earth headers behind the access panels are clean and dry - multiplugs with several black wires going to each. Nuts checked and tight/ It's raining hard outside so not checked the indicator light plugs themselves; 2001 D2, not facelift, so the indicaotrs are low down in the bumper with the rear fog lights. Problem has not gone away.... :D

Haha yeh driving through thick muddy paste like that doesn't help. :D

Surprising how even just motorway grime will build up round there though as it's not somewhere you wash routinely.

Problem solved..... for now - Took the plug off the back of the light, scraped the pins, and the sockets as best I could and blasted it with switch cleaner. As I was moving the calbe around the problem was re-occurring, but I think it's fine; gave it a couple of slaps once I'd re-installed the light in the bumper, but couldn't make it repeat the problem ;) :D
