Scotland,
Whose mechanics know how to work on the L322, in the South West of Scotland. I'm finally about to get the golden one back. After Rover Workshop in Duke Street , Glasgow , screwed her up a year and a half ago. Since then she went back on the road in Jun 2015 with a recon engine. Put in by RM Autos in Stevenston, that has also turned into a nightmare. Not being aware he had made a dogs dinner of that, I gave the veh to him for a simple AS strut replacement which he screwed up , and further screwed me over, by giving the golden one to a so called diagnostic expert at HK Autotek , Stevenston. Who, yep you guessed it , also screwed things up. He had her 3 months ,making excuse after excuse for not having her ready for pick up, then gave her to the main dealer, without telling me. I found out by sheer chance. They found out in one day what the issue actually was. Ian at HK Autotek charged me £400 for the privilege of taking the trim apart, covering my cream leather in oil, paying almost £500 in unnecessary parts and having to threaten with police and lawyer to get a bill, so he would release car!!
So that's the short version of why I'm looking for a recommended, been used by those who recommend, garage that knows how to work on an L322, as I don't fancy the type of charges that Parks apply, for every job in the future, eg £378 to put the trim back that HK Autotek took apart for no bloody reason.
Any help appreciated.

If you ever find yourself in Surrey....I have used and would heartedly recommend Rangers of Guildford on the Slyfield Industrial Estate.

I tend to do my own spanner work, but I have used these guys a couple of times for their excellent diagnostic ability and the use of their T4 Testbook to re-code a replacement ABS ECU.....they could not have been more helpful, friendly and knowledgeable guys.....gave me a cup of decent coffee too......

Thanks, Ant. I do what I can on her but I'm limited on space, etc. Also the brain side of the L322 is well above my pay grade. I just need a garage/mechanic who doesn't lie and take on jobs that they have no idea how to do. Oh how I miss the LAD boys and girls.

Are you looking in Scotland or England ? In England, Harris Mayes Country cars in Rickmansworth, Herts - looked after both my RR's and a Series 3 and still look after my Defender, very competent and easy to deal with, and not stupid prices, absolutely dead straight as well ( and its MOT time in a month!)

As stated above, looking for somewhere in Southwest Scotland. Thanks for the English suggestions but no good to me up here.

Getting even more desperate guys. Got her back today at the cost of £1600, only to find the telescopic steering has stuck and stealers want £4000 to fix! Anyone got any good mechanics? I'd even consider North of england/ Manchester way and make a holiday of it.

Call Hamish and speak to him http://www.inverness4x4centre.co.uk/

He is so highly thought of, the local LR dealer use him!

One of our mechanics is friends with him and speaks VERY highly of him.

Not too far up the A9 either. Much nicer holiday in the real Highlands :D

Thanks guys. 200 miles is nothing, just a hop skip and a jump.
@ Doo, do you know any good camping areas, low cost caravan accomodation or nice B&B who would allow a tempermental dog to stay? I am , as I said now at desperation stage. Too much invested in her to trade her for the pittance Parks offered me against either of two younger models. The way I'm looking at it is, I've spent a fortune doing the big jobs on her, why should someone else get the benefit, whilst I buy a 2nd hand RR and have no idea what might happen. ^ weeks, 6 months, a year down the line I might be doing all the expensive work to a new one.
@ Wattfield I'll give them a call and see if I like the sound of them.

I think it is time to fall in love with a REME guy and swoon to his whim until he fixes the car for you!! :D:D:D

Sorry GR, I don't no much of the world north of the Thames.....

BTW Ant , have you seen REME guys?! Apart from driving boring blue RRs,:)D;)) they are the the filthiest creatures, in all senses, that God invented. Oh and usually short arses too :D:D

Both Scottish garages are close to mainline railway stations.
Whites - 10 mins walk to Haymarket which is one stop prior to Waverley in Edinburgh

GEMM 4x4 - 5 mins from Larbert of 20mins from Camelon both of which end up in Glasgow Queen Street.
When I've dropped the motor off, I usually score a run to the station from staff.

If you use GEMM and need uplifted or dropped off drop me a message and I'll pick you up. I'm only 15 mins away.
