Thanks guys. 200 miles is nothing, just a hop skip and a jump.
@ Doo, do you know any good camping areas, low cost caravan accomodation or nice B&B who would allow a tempermental dog to stay? I am , as I said now at desperation stage. Too much invested in her to trade her for the pittance Parks offered me against either of two younger models. The way I'm looking at it is, I've spent a fortune doing the big jobs on her, why should someone else get the benefit, whilst I buy a 2nd hand RR and have no idea what might happen. ^ weeks, 6 months, a year down the line I might be doing all the expensive work to a new one.
@ Wattfield I'll give them a call and see if I like the sound of them.

Bunchrew is a nice place for sure, but my wife works at the Kingsmills hotel, and if you came up on a certain day, she could probably sort you out with a good deal.

We live in a small flat so no room at the inn I'm afraid, however, I do have a lovely (old) caravan. She's a Swift Corniche 15/4 of 1991 vintage, but dry as a bone and all the usual comforts, so I could put it on a site of your choice and you just pay the fee for a couple of days. I'd make sure the fridge was stocked and tune in the Freeview tv for you

I can't say anything about the other places mentioned on here, it is entirely up to you. But try calling & asking for Hamish. Tell him a friend of Kenny Aird told you about him ;)

What a gentleman, I would book the first two weeks in July but I will be out of the country.:)

Thanks Doo but Ive decided to try Gibsons as they aren't too far away. Spoke to a chap called to Colin who seemed ok. Will see how it goes. If Im not happy with them on the day I might call Hamish again.

Good luck in your endevours GR, I really hope you get it sorted out. There is nothing worse than being let down by someone and losing out not just on money, but losing your faith in human nature.

We're not all bad as you can see on here :)

That's right boys, let me and my disillusioned soul try them out first :p At least it'll only cost a short trip and one hour + vat to suss them out. Not 4 bloody months and over £2k

Ok , I have been to visit Colin and James et al at Gibsons( http://gibsonsautos.co.uk/ ). They seem a decent bunch. First visit took longer than expected but no worries, there was a 14 week old puppy to pass the time , can't be all bad if the dog goes to the office ;)
Back to the important bits, the guys were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Car was looked after well, cover put over cream leather and paper on carpets in footwell. I threw an extra little job at them whilst there, wheel balance, wasn't an issue. They just got on and did it, without moaning. So job diagnosed, the car was booked backed in to be fixed four days later. During those four days I phoned and asked them if they could look at the brake pipes when I came back down. Took it down to them on the day , again upholstery and carpet protected, job done quickly and without issues. They took a proper look at the bits I asked about and came back with a more comprehensive report than the stealers had.
The Golden Girl is going back to them in two weeks to get that work done. Needless to say, so far i'm happy with the work and the service. Only wish I had known about them 18 months ago.
Oh not forgetting, the cafe , nice service, nice staff, good coffee and the food must be good as there were workmen there getting breakfast both times.:) So for those looking for a landy specialist, who also does other makes, they're worth a visit.
