I contacted my land rover dealer to get a front propshaft cv joint and they said its not available only a complete propshaft at a cost of £457.00 plus vat,

i was wondering can anyone recommend a company please as ive seen just the cv joints being sold on ebay but not sure if there any good.

noticed there are inner and outer cv joints which one do i need please

may i ask what do i need to look for, can i indeed just get the front cv joint as the only ones i can find are up to a 2001 and mine is a 2002.

my free lander is a 2002 td4 auto 3 door freelander

thanks so much again guys

many thanks, i gave them a ring and they said they only do drive shaft cv joints and dont anything to do with propshaft cv joints

have been going through all the web sites to try and find out if i can just get the front propshaft cv joint or maybe a cheap propshaft

thanks again

The parts are available I recall a recent thread either on here or LRUK forums showing a propshaft rebuild complete with photos.

hiya

many thanks ive been searching all the other lr forums and cannot find it anywhere.

im convinced i read it somewhere that it someone got a complete new prop cheaper than the new front propshaft cv joint

just getting confused if i need an outer or inner cv joints as there seem to be plenty of companies out there

found only a complete prop for around £280 so far, the prop is ok just need a cv joint

everything else on the complete prop seems fine

just cant find the link where another freelander owner put them into his post of the company he used

thanks so much again

will be great to get one and finally get rid of this dam vibration.

have got it in 2wd at the moment, not going to use it until i get the prop back on as i dont want to tempt faint using it without the prop on it.

thanks guys

try Freelander spares but they are away until 3rd Jan they have a advert on ebay for one but be warned if you have vibration on the prop it may be your VCU as that is a common problem with vibration hope this helps

hiya

many thanks for the help, i will give bell a look

the local garage had a look at my vcu and prior to it being taking off they had a look at it seemed fine, but i suppose wont know 100% until its all fitted back onto the car.

the front cv joint is by the looks of it the only worn part but am concerned that if the entire prop and vcu are all the same age and hasnt been changed that i may get the new cv joint fitted and then it will go further down the line.

hopefully i may be able to get a new front prop and was thinking at the same time about getting some new vcu bearings so at least that will be done and deal with the vcu if that also is failing, i did put the car onto full locl and into reverse and it showed no resistance what so ever but i suppose that only a small test

thanks so much and when i do find a good supplier will post the link on here for others
