Dent removal

Hi to all
I know I'm probably gonna get a slap from someone for asking this but there are a few dents around the bodywork on my defender I would like to get sorted, Is this a costly process or does anybody have any tips? Lots of people say those dents add character but I'd like to restore to original if possible.

Would this be the usual sanding priming painting scenario?

If you can get in behind them, try knocking them out. The paint they have to use on the aluminium is suprisingly flexible and sometimes will withstand the whole process without the need to paint.

I am trying tofind out what type of blue the paintwork is on my defender, it is a 1996 300 tdi. I am not sure if a particular blue was used for this year or not, tried to attach a pic but the file was too big, I cant take another pic as it is dark outside now

I bought a 1997 with dents in every panel [used on a farm] it's now near perfect, lots of body filler and rubbing down, mine is light blue, no paint code but the local paint supplier matched it and gave it a name .I will look it up tomorrow.

look at the vin plate look for word PAINT The letters and nos next it are the colour code. Any good paint supplier should then come up with a perfect match for you .If your dents are deep drill a few holes through the body this will make a strong key for the fillers' good luck BB

The light blue on my defender was called windjammer blue.the code on the tinis72630 424.my local auto paint shop mixed it but I understand Halfords also can mix auto paint. Hope this helps.Forget the other comments about dents.Get it perfect and then when you dent it at least you were having fun ,

I have been a dent guy for over 12 years now. I can count the number of defenders I,ve repaired on on hand.
The ally is almost as soft as lead.
They are fairly difficult to repair relative to normal cars.
