Defender wiper sweep

hi

recently fitted another wiper motor after last one failed, problem is now I have too much wiper sweep, ie the drivers wiper touchers the bottom of the windscreen and the right hand side window rubber..... on the wiper motor is a small nut ? what does this adjust ???

any help welcomed...

The nut is to adjust the brush position on the commutator, nothing to do with sweep.

AFAIK there is no way to adjust the sweep, it's controlled by the gearing. I wish mine had more sweep, unless the window is dripping wet mine only move from vertical to about 10:00...

standard Halfords wipers i did a like for like swap for new ones..... its a cheaper Britpart wiper motor though no a genuine landy one.....

Just take blade off, press wiper stalk to do 1 wipe, then replace wiper in park position..

Mine go down until stopped by the gutter below the windscreen and then do a full sweep across ... not too worried by it as I think it's a gearing issue.

The problem is that these wiper motors have been used for different vehicles ( I think the old Mini's had them as well), plus defenders have had them moved on various occasions thus resulting in slight mods to the length of sweep of the rod. sorry I can't help any more than that.
