defender vent seals

I was under the impression that there are two types. The older rubber version (MUC4299) that is glued to the bulkhead and a newer foam one that is self adhesive and sticks to the vent (JAE000030).

"While both will fit late or early models, the rubber one fits better/looks better on the older models as it fills the channel better."

Just what I have been told.

What I do know for certain is that the rubber one is slightly too short to fit properly and is best left in a bucket of hot water for a while then stretched a bit. It still requires a friendly octopus to help fit it as it needs to be glued all the way round.

Cured my swimming pool in the footwell. Nice cheap fix.

and I gave a lot more information including part numbers, the part number ranges and what (as far as I know) the differences are and why someone would/should fit a certain type to their vehicle.

Just thought it might help the OP and others who were looking for information on this particular subject.

my point was that if you went into a dealer of any sort and said " i need a bulkhead vent seal for my ****MY Defender please" he would give you the right one, you pay your money and the job is done.

LR folk spend too much time dicking around with PN when they should be enjoying life more.

if you buy all of your parts from a LR dealer i doubt you'd have any money left to allow you to enjoy life
