hello all my mates brought a 1985 defender with a retro fitted 300tdi in there the prev owner has done a cambelt on it but said the ip timing is out causeing smokeing so i reset the ip timing but it has a early box on it so couldnt lock the flywheel so lined it up with the marks on the timing houseing so on start up it run then revs lifted then it revved its bollox off manged to block the air off and it cut out checked the exhaust loads of oil so i thought the turbo must be knackered so checked that all ok checked oil level has droped so suspect running on oil any ideas cheers mike
