ive got a decision to make and would like some advice.
since you guys are the experts on everything im going to put it to the forum.
ive got money for a new defender:)
i own a 110 csw 300tdi in not to bad condition.
thing is im in 2 minds to spend some of my cash on a profesional rebuild for my truck and keep it, or just go and buy a new generation car.
what i want is a list of must haves that you would do to your car if im going to rebuild so that i can price it up and figure out if its worth while, how long would should i expect a body off rebuild to take?
any reputable people who can do this work in central scotland.

That is a dilemma.

On one hand the new defenders are a LOT nicer to drive, actually accelerate and are comfortable (as a defender can be), but then on the other hand a 300tdi has no electronics and the engine has proved itself to be pretty bulletproof, rather than being a glorified transit engine.

I am guessing that a professional place would take a few weeks to do a complete rebuild. A chassis replacement usually costs circa £3000. It all depends on what needs doing on your current car.

Edit: oh, and I thought this was a rebuild thread, how disappointing

I don't think the steel quality on the new ones is very good, looking at late models I see around they seem to develop surface rust much quicker than the old models.
Personally I would go classic every time, if looked after they will hold their value better than new.
