Defender is much easier to get parts for I;ve found,

D1 parts are getting harder to source I;ve found (body parts in decent condition that is + door handles)

I got a defender to be different from the rest in my area. 90% of my mates with Land Rovers have Disco's! Defender is basic but you can always upgrade interior to your own liking! I love mine :)

Defenders are quite timeless, and the resale prices are always strong, unless you let them rot away.

Teeth so bad, the Druids could use them as a place of worship, you can open beer bottles on that overbite.

Smoke me a kipper"..............

Discos loose money. Defender's hold value and hopefully go up in value when they go out of production soon.

Buy a Disco cheap enough and you can't loose that much. Defenders hold value but get stolen too often. Off-road there is little to choose between them. Disco's are fairly civilised and double as a family car. Local waste disposal sites can be funny if you turn up in a Defender 'cos it's classed as a commercial vehicle.

I agree with almost all of that, except the bit about there being little to choose between them off road. I take my 90 Places I would not dream of going in the Disco. Disco body is huge in interference fit vegetation, wheelbase is much longer than a 90, ground clearance not so good, no difflock on many D2 etc.

At the tip here a Def is fine if it has windows in the back, but not hard top. I think the same applies to London LEZ.

My favourite defender was an ex AA 110sw 300tdi. I am quite tall so can't get away with a defender pickup, can't get the seat back far enough. Beware of elbola from having your arm on the windowsill.
As for discovery, can't stand them. Had a d1 v8 auto and a d2 td5 auto.
Built on a range rover classic chassis, too tall, lots of heavy glass, steel roof, top heavy shuggy boat. RRC every time for me, much better drive.
Don't understand why the didn't continue building it and just bin off the discovery
Right? :behindsofa:
