Today I tried to change the rear diff seal on my 200tdi 90, got the shaft off, split pin out and the case drained, then spent an hour trying to shift the nut, no luck so going to ask a mate who owns a garage to let me put it on a ramp and try again (no garage or shelter of my own, and a sloping drive meant I was on the pavement and it starting raining, backside was getting wet, anyway).
I decided to drive it back on the front shaft only, the rear one tied off on the a frame by a couple of nylon ties, it was only up the drive. Brought up the clutch, no movement. I got my brother out and had him try to move it forward while I looked underneath, he brought up the clutch and I could see the rear prop turning, but no movement from the front prop. Rolled the 90 by hand and the prop turned. Reconnected the rear prop, put some oil back in the case and drove it up the drive.
So it looks to me that the output from the transfer is buggered, the question being is it a fixable buggered or new transfer box buggered?
Just to clarify, the UJ at the transfer box end does not move unless the front wheels are turned. Any Ideas?
