As it ses, no lights. brake lights ok, indicators ok, main beam flash ok. Live ok to light switch that disapears when switched, tried a new switch still the same !!! Any ideas, thanks.

Am presuming you've already checked the obvious - fuses & bulbs
What exactly isn't working? Side lights, dipped beam, front, rear, both etc.
No lights at all is a little unusual. side ligths or headlamps failing on their own can be due to poor earths - given the rain we've had the wet might have caused

Make sure the voltage isnt shorting out somewhere down the feed line to bulbs once switched.

Well finally got to have a look, after reading various horror stories of "dim-dip" Thought this must be it !!! steering wheel off, instrument console pulled out, fuse panel unscrewed, dim-dip relay found removed/replaced, all other relays played around with.....all lights now working, fixed without knowing how, oh well at least I learn't what relay does what. Thanks for the advice.
