I have just bought my first defender, its an 08 puma 110 Hardtop
I have driven it for the first time today in quite a heavy down poor and it leaks water, it got quite full in the channel in front of the rear bulkhead just behind the seats and also drivers seat belt got wet and the drivers side panel in the back.
Is this normal or should I have the dealer deal with it?
Many Thanks
Duane

It's a Landy, they leak, if anyone trys to tell you different they are a liar, it's part of the character:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Might want to go and introduce yourself in the imaginatively titled "Introduce yourself" section, otherwise you'll upset the natives:eek:;);)

To quote an old adage: "All Land Rovers leak, but they let it out again with supreme efficiency"!

If you've got a warranty/dirt on your dealer then I'd certainly go back and badger him. I have a leak from somewhere that results in a drip on my right knee when driving in heavy rain (it's RHD) and I have never been able to track it down. From various searches I believe I'm not alone, but I've not heard of anyone solving it. This results in the track below the roof filling with water but I don't think it results in the symptoms you describe.

You could try the garden hose trick - play it on the vehicle until you find the spot that causes it to leak, but sometimes the path from the leak to the water's final resting place can be tortuous so you have to go very slowly, and remember that when you're driving the rain is coming from the front rather than just from above.

Good luck and I'd certainly try the dealer - I've been looking for my leak for years but find that a waterproof over my legs has been more effective!

Hows things going? missed you;)

I bought my Defender last September (2012 model), when I looked inside on the first viewing I noticed some water in the passenger footwell. The dealer told me "they all do that sir", he was absolutely right - otherwise why did they produce the water ingress manual? I traced the leak to the windscreen rubber seal, and stopped it with a bit of black electricians tape laid over the seal / door pillar (nearly invisible because the paint is black). This was meant to be a temporary fix until I got round to applying a sealant which I still need to do. Since that temporary fix, only a tiny bit of water has got in and only under severe heavy weather.

I had a similar problem, the inner gutter was filling with water but only when parked on the level, I fortunately have access to a former landrover techie who advised running some q bond into the joints on the patchwork quilt of a roof and by jove it worked....Phil
