Painting is not my thing, so forgive me (Electrics and Mechanics is my thing!).

can I use brake cleaner to de grease?, or do I need some nasty chemical and some of those paint sprayers tissues (panel wipes!)

brake cleaner leaves a residue so most likely no good for pre wipe, but with an old toothbrush will clean it up a treat, then use a proper wipe.
DO NOT smoke when using brake cleaner!

I used this paint, Matt Black. To prep the cards I just gave them a good wash with detergent and then power washed them. Left in shed to dry, during summer, and they were ok to spray the next day. Spray lightly, it's easy to go back on the 'light' areas 'till you're happy with it. I've had no problem with the quality of the finish, just a wipe of a cloth refreshes them.....

Thats not a bad idea!, trouble is I am now looking all the wonderful toys on the Buzzweld site, I wonder how the Lizard skin would look :)

LizardSkin isnt paint, its a sound deadener with similar properties to dynamat. Its also brilliant.

As for degreaser Upol do a 5L one which lasts bloody ages and isnt very expensive but is very good.

You could do the door cards in Raptor, would look quite cool. You can get different finishes from it, by using either a shutz (coarse finish) or a gravity/HVLP gun (finel and its quite easy to apply. Just needs good amount of prep work.

Itd be very hard wearing too, though if you want a flat, smooth finish Buzzweld PIO would be my choice.

I will pop some sound deadening on the rear of the cards, Dynamat is good but way over priced!
I have used a gold foil backed Lam-wood flooring soundproofing underlay* ( cant remember the name) and some HD carpet adhesive, in a few campers and other vans, very happy no problems so far!

*The sound travel and resonance transmission is a higher spec than dynamat, and a fraction of the cost, i do appreciate it is designed for a totally different application though :) but so far its been a good call.

Ideally you want the foam on the door skin, not the card.

Fatmat is an excellent, cheaper alternative to Dynamat, though I found if doing a fair bit then LizardSkin is even cheaper!

As long as it’s closed-cell it should be ok. Any idea what brand you used?

Novostrat/ Sonic Gold'- product with an integral gold foil vapour control layer and a 200mm joint overlap > 24db 5mm thickness ISO 10140-2:2010 - produced from high density closed cell Polyethylene Foam' I must admit I am a bit of a fan of it, discovered it when i did my loft conversion and used it under my flooring, I chose it because it was high performing in both thermo and acoustic, then used it to insulate and first layer sound proof walls in my home music studio etc, Its not self adhesive so used loft insulating rings and velcro for fixing to walls in studio.

Its like the budgie.........cheap!
