defender engine swap

Hello everyone,
first excuse my small knowledge with land rovers.
I'm from Syria and i just bought a petrol 1974 series III 2.25 upgraded version (shown in picture) the original engine has broken and am looking for a good reliable easy to fit petrol alternative (can't change to diesel) i prefer japanese or german because they are easy to find in Syria, if not what is a good V6 land rover petrol engine since V8s fuel consumption is high as far as i know.

Put a carb'd V8 into it.

Piece of **** to fit and set up.

Consumption shouldn't be too bad either so long as it's set up right.,

thank u, but in this case it has to be a manual, what about automatic? any suggestions plz

You can pair the v8 to a manual.

Lt77 or an R380.

As for autos.

The ZF4hp22 would work.

actually it died 35 years old, it wasn't in good condition anyway.
