HELLO. New to the forum unfortunately my first post is one of seeking guidance.

I have a 2.2 TDCi. Stopped in motion. Had it diagnosed and the first error was Cransshaft position sensor. Got a new one and installed but engine wouldn’t crank.

Had it towed to the mechanic. They further diagnosed that my ECM was bad. Was sending lower voltage to the crankshaft sensor.

Next step was to replace the ECM. The original part number that came with the car was LR030063. That part has since been superseded by LR040908.

The mechanic is saying that this new part which is now what Land Rover stocks also requires I change the current immobilizer / security system, and key fobs to be compatible with the new part number. Includes rewiring etc
I just want an original solution

I do not believe this to be accurate but I’m handicapped because this is the only center with the ability to reprogram an ecu for me. They insisting without showing me any literature that supports their theory.

Please let me know if anyone has come across this issue before.

Cheers
