Defender Alternator

My mate needs a new alternator for his 300TDi 90, apparently his is a 45A...

He also says he's been told 65A and 100A are not interchangeable but what can be fitted in place of the 45A one?

Any knowledgable peeps have any experience?

hes misinformed

i did have a standard 45amp alternator then went to a 70 amp alternator,and have tried the 100 amp alternator,but have now put the 70 amp one back on.200 tdi

so he should just be able to bolt THIS in and have a bit more juice available to run his christmas tree - err I mean high powered light setup!

Didn't think anything would change too much, but it did make me wonder... not sure who told him that
