Hi everyone,

I need a new radiator for my 1995 90 MPI.
Does anybody know what type was used?
I have looked at a lot of pictures but haven't found the exact same radiator yet.

If I can't find one, do you think a new core is an option?
Will it be as good as a new one?

Thanks!
Jan

Re-coring is more or less as good as new. Post a picture of your radiator and let's see what it looks like.

However, I think it may have been ESR2595.

If I had my LR parts software installed I could check for sure but I don't have it on this laptop.

ESR2595 is the Disco radiator.
All connections are in the right places, but the top mounts are on the side, not on the top of the radiator.
I can take a picture when I get home from work.
Thanks.

Has your 90 had a 2.0 Mpi petrol engine from a Discovery put in it?

If you are struggling, I think that the Discovery radiators (the originals at least) have mounting points on the top rail, so you could cut off the mounts on the side and and use the top mounts.
The V8 radiators Discovery and Range Rover Classic look similar as well.
Does yours have a combined oil cooler?

Mine looks to be very similar to the V8 rad ESR 3685 or 203. the only diff is the bottom hose entry mine has a 90 bend on the bottom hose entry.
I couldn't see any numbers stamped on it.
But a recore would be a good route and then at least you would have all the correct fitment and hose entries.

Mine appears to have a plug top and bottom that are unused that i believe are an oil cooler. the lower 1 is just above the lower hose connection. the upper is just below the 2 small vents.

I haven't seen a Disco radiator with top mounting pins yet, but will look into that. It does not have an oil cooler.

Yes, that is what I found regarding the bottom hose. I think it is going to be a recore. I have a quote for arond €300, so not too bad.
It is weird though that is does not seem to be a standard Land Rover item.

I found a complete set of water hoses for the 90 MPI in Italy by the way. After two ruptured hoses in two weeks that seemed like a good idea. Google 'defender 90 mpi full water kit'.
One thing is strange: On the two hoses to the heater there are extra exits. My 90 does not have that, so I wonder what is supposed to go there. A second heater matrix maybe? Heater bypass? I am waiting for a reply from Italy, but maybe one of you knows.

I dont have those extra exits either.

Do you have LPG?

Your quote of £300 for a re-core sounds a bit steep to me, it could be worth shopping around.
The extra outlets on your hoses could be for an engine pre-heater, just a wild guess.
