Defender 90 headlight MOT failure

Hi, My fender 90 failed on a number of points but one which is throwing me is a statement that the current lights are not road legal - they don't have an etched black line to aid alignment on the lens. Now I've looked at new ones on-line but can't see any black line on those either. Any help out there please?

What year is your 90?
Were they replacements units?
Are they CE marked?

Maybe he is testing them as 'E' beams when they are actually British American style?
