Defender 90 Drum Brake- theories please!

my old 1986 90 had drum brakes on the rear with a snail cam 1/2 inch to adjust them i had all new brakes drums and shoes cost 80 quid then i changed the axle for a salisbury axle iup sitting in my garage

i would avoid anymore confusion and expense and get a rear axle off a disco which you can pick up complete for £50-£100 depending on condition, and will fit straight on with 2 new short brake pipes.
you will have much much better brakes and changing dreaded shoes will be a thing of the past.

Finally an answer !!! It seems that the bean counters in the MOD sourced some cheap and nasty repica parts namely santana  i managed to get hold of a guy at the camp where my landy spent its life who told me the problems they had.
Anyway, to keep the landy original i decided to bite the bullet and bought 2 complete brake assemblies for it.

Thanks for all your help and advice :D
