Defender 90 as Campervan

:rolly:

Not much more progress as water ingress (see other entry - Defender Wet Wet Wet) has slowed things down a bit but the insulation continues and another three cheesy camping mats arrived from Cheddar today. I now have enough to fully insulate all wall floor and ceiling.
A tip; in cold weather I have found it easy to work outside in Landy if you have a blanket on the floor topped with any plastic material you can turn around and about on - otherwise the bare metal floor of the landy is bloody cold.
I also found a couple of planks, in the loft which will span the rear area (as bed supports) and have cut them down to size and sanded all corners to make sure no splinters. The wood I found was a bit naff so I bought a sander in Lidl for £12, working on the basis it probably would have cost me that much to buy wood cut to size, whereas now I will have a sander at end of it. The sander I bought is a Parkland ??, its German, comes with a 3 year guarantee and as with many (not all) electrical things from Lidl it is bloody good.

You may find the sander is made by Einhell. I have several of their tools, under their own and other names, and have found them pretty good.

Hello lovely people! Got loads of inspiration from here. I improvised a bit with the materials that i already had and created a triple bed with foam for me my wife and my <2 year old son. I feel obliged to at least post some photos and basic details of the build. Came back from a long vacation trip (1600km) and I have already some modifications I need to do. But in general it was so comfortable and very stable! The bed was behind the seats fixed. With two dexion as the base and two bolted MDF pieces on top. And a foam mattress on top. I also made two small MDF's with according size foam on top which were the continuation of the 150cm basic bed for the support of our legs. Me (185cm) passengers side, Wife (165cm) drivers side. And our son (Not even a meter) in the middle. Didn't need any extension. When we would stop we would fold down our seats, pull out the two MDF boards and put on top of them our two small rectangular foam thingies. (Just like pulling a drawer. Because we stored them between the mattress and the big board) That's all. And bed is ready in less than a minute. Sorry for my bad English btw...

Cheers!
It feels better than my home mattress!
It is made out of Foam 250 medium density. I went to the factory that they make it for Greece and they cut it at my custom dimensions. The three pieces costed 80 euros. My mistake is that i chose the 14cm height. Where a 10 would be better, leaving us more headspace.
