Hi All,

I had a broken speedo cable in my Landy which i decided to change at the weekend.

I purchased a new one from the guys at RST in Mersea and fitted it on Sunday.

It all went great. Fitted new cable.Routed it through the engine com partment. threaded it into the dash console and connected it up with a firm push to the speedo.

I then took it for a quick spin and it worked fine.

Having had it working I then screwed the dash console back into position and took it for another spin. IT no longer worked.

Any Ideas?

The original cable was broken at the dash end. The plastic sheathing had detached from the plastic speedo connector thereby making the inner cable detach.

Did you make sure you pushed it into the speedo properly?

When I replaced mine I was surprised how tough it was to get it to go all the way. It could be you didn't have it in properly, so it worked for a bit and then popped off? If it looks ok, drive a little forward with the speedo cable sticking out the dash, checking it is turning properly....
