Hi guys

I have removed my 19j engine from my 1989 90 pick up and have a new unit coming from a rear ended LR90 200Tdi.

I have looked at the modifications etc that are required for a Disco 200Tdi engine to go in to the slot but what do I need to do? Is the bell housing different or did the early 200Tdi have the LT 77 anyway?

Any exhaust problems that I need to be aware of?

Also , what exhaust would you recommend for the 200Tdi ? Obviously a 200tdi but 300's are readily available and relatively cheap.

cheers guys

Hi again all,

I did a search , a few times on many sites but having only found discovery guides and info I thought Id ask a few questions.

Still after the answers if anyone has them. Sorry if this has been covered in exactly the parameters I am after, but I cant find it for the life of me!

200tdi came with the LT 77 box, with improvements as it went along,
a standard 200 defender exhaust will be fine on yours, or adapt yours to fit,

Pretty certain its exactly the same exhaust system front to back, especially the stupid front downpipe.

cheers guys

I will post up some more detailed bits in the projects area and advise people for the future in case they get the luck that I have had finding one in a Defender that is dead!

I have just put a Defender 200tdi into my 1992 ex mod Defender (2.5d).
No problems fitting it really. Make sure you get the air cleaner mounting bracket off the inner wing as they are like hens teeth and unobtainable new.
I fitted an export spec 300tdi exhaust to mine as they only have one box and are big bore. The front downpipe is 200tdi pipe to under the clutch slave cylinder joined on to the 300tdi system.
